Sauna
Welcome to our brand-new thermae set in a unique location - the Boetfort Castle estate - where you can relax and enjoy yourself to your heart's content in a range of saunas, baths, relaxation areas, etc.
You can choose between two extensive thermal complexes. In the Moenia thermal baths you can take your cure naked, while the Curia thermal baths are intended for those who prefer to relax in a swimsuit.
Our saunas
Thermae Boetfort has no less than eight different saunas in store for you. A slightly hotter one, a slightly cooler one, a larger one, a smaller one, in sum, a sauna for everyone! Find out more about our selection of saunas below and make sure to give them a try!
Eucalyptus Sauna: everyone is familiar with the wonderful effects of eucalyptus. Enjoy this divine scent in our most traditional Finnish sauna in Moenia (the nude section), at the very back of the corridor. (90°C)
Ice-Cellar Sauna: this Ice-Cellar Sauna in the former ice cellar of Boetfort Castle is truly unique. It is located semi-underground, hidden in Moenia Park (the nude section). (70°C)
Infrared Sauna: the perfect sauna for anyone suffering from muscular pain. The rays in this sauna warm your muscles, reducing tightness and easing pain in the process, and even have a detoxifying effect. The Infrared Sauna is located in Curia (the swimwear section), outside, by the swimming pool.
Light-Therapy Sauna: this sauna was fitted with a special light-therapy system; the individual colours all have a specific effect on both body and mind. The Light-Therapy Sauna is located in Curia (the swimwear section), next to the warm footbath with heated benches. (70°C)
My Sauna: one of our hottest saunas is located in Moenia (the nude section). My Sauna is an underground sauna and its design is based of the former coalmines that were typical of this area. (80°C)
Music Sauna: relax to the sound of the music played in this sauna, a special experience. Our Music Sauna is located at the upper floor in Curia (the swimwear section). (55°C)
Stables Sauna: unadulterated nostalgia in the former stables of Boetfort Castle. The decor is dominated by all things horsey and the sauna has a very comfortable heat. The Stables Sauna is located in Moenia (the nude section), inside, at the top of the stairs. (75°C)
Salt-Stone Sauna: the stunning colours radiated by the salt stone in this sauna must be seen to be believed! What’s more, this stone releases salts that have a beneficial effect on our body. Relaxing in the Salt-Stone Sauna can be done in Moenia, (the nude section) inside, at the bottom of the stairs. (65°C)

What is Sauna?
In sauna cabins, temperatures are pushed up considerably; a temperature of 90°C would not be unusual for instance. We are clearly talking about the ambient temperature here, not about your body temperature of course...
Step-by-step sauna plan
Always start your sauna session with a shower to make sure that you are spotlessly clean. Don’t forget to wash your hair because most of the heat is lost via your head.
History of sauna
The very first saunas saw the light of day in Finland centuries ago, where people used hot stones to heat their huts and suddenly discovered that they could raise the ambient temperature even further by pouring water over the hot stones. And thus, the principle of the sauna was born!
